Ted Atkins, Sr. and Roxana Candia were both 16 seconds off their predicted time for top predictors in the weekly pace race held out on Barranca Mesa using the Deer Trap Mesa Trail. The 3.6 mile distance was eliminated due to possible inclement weather and only the 1 mile paved and 2 mile trail runs were conducted. Roxana was also the best female finisher in the 2 mile distance with a time of 19:14. Other accurate predictors were: 11 year old Adrian Medin at 18 seconds off; Ryan Smeltzer with a 21 second differential as well as the best finisher on the 2 mile course recording a time of 15:59; Charles Ferenbaugh with 41 second difference, and Jan Velechovsky at 52 seconds off.
On the 1 mile course Priscila Rosa was the top finisher with a time of 8:21 and 11 year old Robbie Ferenbaugh was first male finisher recording a 11:37.
Next week’s race will be held on July 19 at 6:00 p.m. and will take place on the Power Line Point Trail on State Route 4 and is located approximately 3.2 miles from the junction of Pajarito Road and State Route 4 in the White Rock area on the left after heading West on Route # 4 or a little more than 10 miles on the right after heading East on Route # 4 from the “Back Gate” (junction of State Route # 4 and State Route # 501/West Jemez Road) and turning left onto Route # 4 at that point.
