The scope of this program has grown over the years to multiple scholarships awarded at LAHS and regional high schools. Scholarships are granted to graduating high school seniors based on merit and recognize a variety of achievements. JROMC’s scholarship program is supported by several limited-term endowments, corporate and charitable partners, and numerous individual donations.
The J. Robert Oppenheimer Memorial Committee is dedicated to preserving the legacy of Robert Oppenheimer, the first director of Los Alamos National Laboratory and one of the most influential scientists of the 20th century. In addition to its annual scholarship program, the JROMC sponsors the Oppenheimer Memorial Lecture.
The 49th J. Robert Oppenheimer Memorial Lecture, titled “Black Holes: from Oppenheimer’s Ideas to the First Direct Images,” will feature Professor Feryal Özel on Aug. 12 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Duane Smith Auditorium in Los Alamos
