Y NEWS RELEASE
The Family YMCA’s Golf Classic will be held on Friday, August 26, with a shotgun start at 9 AM at the Los Alamos Golf Course. The tournament is subtitled the Emily McGay & Roger Waterman Memorial, in honor of a former CEO and Board president, respectively, who passed away in the last 16 months.
“We’re grateful to hold an outdoor fundraiser,” said Y CEO Chris Daniels, “and we are excited to partner with Los Alamos Golf Association who is managing registrations.”
Daniels said the tournament will raise funds for a projected 300 individuals on financial assistance scholarships (200 youth in afterschool and camp programs, and 100 adults with memberships), and support 300 youth served at our Española YMCA Teen Center.
Daniels said major sponsors have significant recognition and players fees included. He said he is happy to talk to anyone who would like to be a sponsor and he may be reached at cdaniels@laymca.org or by calling the Y at 662-3100. He said the Y is also selling advertising signs to display at Tee boxes for $150.
The tournament is limited to 108 golfers, and will feature a hole-in-one contest for $10,000 at hole number 17. Prizes will be awarded to net score winners for first, second and third places.
Golfers can register online only at this link.
Daniels said the Y will continue their tradition of offering fun games of chance along the course for tickets toward additional products. “Golfers tell us the games really help them relax and have fun.”
Play in the tournament includes a barbecue lunch from Smokin’ Bear BBQ that will be served at Bathtub Row Brewing company immediately after the tournament.
