Robert McCormick, born on July 5, 1935, died peacefully at home on June 23, 2022.  He was the son of Joe and Louise McCormick and grew up in the mining town of Santa Rita, NM, before joining the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict.  He then graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1961 with a degree in mechanical engineering and moved to Los Alamos to work at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory until his retirement in 1991. 

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Freda; his son, Patrick (JoAnn Lysne); his sister, Mary Jo Tillman; and extended family in New Mexico and Arizona.  A family service will be held at Fort Bayard National Cemetery near Silver City, NM.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to End of Life Options New Mexico (https://endoflifeoptionsnm.org/donate/).
