LARSO NEWS RELEASE
This is a busy week for the local senior centers, and they invite you to come have some fun.
On Monday, raffle tickets will be sold for $1.00 each, through the end of the day on Wednesday. The raffle of several items, including art and gift cards is a fundraiser, for the annual Betty’s Birthday Benefit. The event was a rescheduled May celebration, when the town was in preparation stages, for evacuation.
On Wednesday, come take part in cupcakes while supplies last from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The highlight will be live music, called Courtyard Concerts. The golden melodious tones of Ken Hendricks of Home Instead and Dale Lipp from Ambercare, will boost the mood and enliven the senses. The concert will be held in the upper parking level of the Betty Ehart Senior Center. Resources will also be set up inside for seniors needing to link to local and regional services, including Veteran’s assistance.
The White Rock Center will sell raffle tickets and have cupcakes available inside the White Rock Center.
Throughout the week will be an opportunity to bring your no longer serviceable flag, for a proper retirement. On Friday, July 1, LARSO will host a formal flag retirement ceremony at the Betty Ehart Center, with many community partners taking a role. The Friday service will be indoors, on the lower level, in a socially distanced setting.
“Right now, we’re unsure if the mask requirement will continue after Tuesday,” said Bernadette Lauritzen, LARSO Executive Director, “but masks are always welcome and you will notice senior center staff are required to wear them. We do still require those that want to enter the center, to be vaccinated for Covid-19.”
Those with questions can call the Betty Ehart Senior Center at 505-662-8920, visit their website at www.LARSO.org or check out their Facebook pages. The centers are open from 8:30am-4pm, Monday through Friday.
