Los Alamos County Library System To Host Talk About All Things Rainbow

COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

The staff of Los Alamos County Library System is pleased to  present LGBTQIA+ 101: Understanding and Allyship in 2022. This free public program will be  livestreamed on Zoom on Thursday, June 30 from 7 to 8 pm. Don’t miss this great opportunity  to expand your understanding of all things rainbow!

Has the LGBT acronym grown since you last looked at it? Are you curious about why we  celebrate Pride Month in June or what all those colorful flags represent? Trying to figure out  pronouns, gender, and slang? Oh, my! This talk is for those who feel out of the loop with all  things rainbow (or are seeking a more in-depth understanding) and are hoping to catch up or cry  trying. We will cover some basic history of the LGBT movement, including the Stonewall Riots  and more.

This program will be presented by library staff member Maegan Carter, a lifelong New Mexico  native from Española who completed undergraduate studies in psychology and anthropology at  the University of New Mexico. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental  health counseling at Highlands University and sex therapy certification from the American  Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists.

This event is free to the public and will take place online via the Zoom platform. Registration is  required to attend. To sign up, please visit the event page on the library event calendar at  https://laconm.libcal.com/event/9235305. Questions? Please call (505) 662-8257.
