LAPS FOUNDATION NEWS RELEASE
The Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation announces Matthew Campbell as the graduating Los Alamos High School senior selected for the CareerTechnical Scholarship. Matthew plans to become a certified welder. This scholarship is new for 2022 graduates and is awarded to students who are planning a career technical path after high school.
Students applying for a Career Technical Scholarship were asked to write an essay about an Educator of Distinction—someone who has had a positive impact on thestudent during their time in the Los Alamos Public Schools. Matthew selected Scott Pomeroy as his Educator of Distinction.
He wrote this about Mr. Pomeroy: “He has taught me a lot, helping me explore various options at Los Alamos High and options for me after I graduate. He is a really supportive mentor. Mr. Pomeroy will talk to his students about real life issues in ways that other teachers don’t. He can relate to high school kids in a way that makes us all look forward to going to his class. He is genuinely a role model. . . he has made a lasting difference in my life by encouraging me to dreams, get out of my comfort zone and work hard for the things that are important to me.”
LAPS Foundation congratulates Matthew Campbell for this achievement and Mr. Pomeroy for being selected as an Educator of Distinction.
