Girl Scouts from the Los Alamos, White Rock, and Espanola areas gathered at Aspen Elementary School last week for Twilight Camp, a Los Alamos Girl Scouting tradition going back nearly 30 years. The theme this year was Greek Mythology and the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series of books.

Cadette Girl Scouts chose the theme and planned and led all the activities, which included monster fighting with foam swords and cardboard shields, weaving and tin stamping, constellation stories, capture the flag, Medusa tag, three-legged obstacle course racing, and of course songs and s’mores around a “campfire.”

Campers also participated in the Changemakers National Service Project, writing thank you cards to local heroes like firefighters, teachers, nurses, police, and Hot Shots.
