The Friends of Los Alamos Pride Organization is proud to expand their Pride month offerings with The Rainbow Ball, an adult cabaret show put on by the Atomic Follies Cabaret performance collective in Los Alamos.
This show, originally scheduled for June 11, has been rescheduled to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Los Alamos Little Theater’s Performing Arts Center.
Enjoy a curated collection of Pride-themed acts from both local favorites and emerging talents, including live music led by Nick Dennissen and the Atomic Follies Band.
Attendees are also encouraged to participate in the “Ball” competition. In the grand tradition of the documentary “Paris Is Burning,” Queen Mother of Los Alamos Leona La’Roux is proud to announce the categories of “Queer Eleganza,” “Cosplay Couture,” “Gender Buster,” and “Laboratory Realness.” Any community member is welcome to “walk the runway” in any of these categories.
Winners will be awarded prizes, and more importantly, year long bragging rights of confirmed fierceness.
Food and drink will be sold during the event. To purchase tickets please visit the Creative District of Los Alamos website, or go to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-atomic-follies-cabaret-june-25-tickets-333032969577
Additionally, an all-ages version of The Rainbow Ball will be performed at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, with pre-show activities, including a parade around Ashley Pond, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The event is part of the Los Alamos Creative District Tuesday Night Concerts at the Pond program.
This performance is free and open to all, and performed as part of the Los Alamos Pride Week celebrations. It includes Ball-walking opportunities, with additional “junior” versions of categories for local youth looking to show their Pride.
Atomic Follies will also appear as part of the Friday, June 17, 5th Annual Pride Festival, and again at the Saturday, June 18, Derby Dames Rocky Horror Picture Show bout.
