Three Los Alamos School of Gymnastics Diamond Level gymnasts traveled to San Antonio, Texas in May to compete in the Region 3 USAG Gymnastics Xcel Diamond season championship meet.

There were 675 Diamond (top competitive division) gymnasts competing from the 7 states in Region 3 (NM, Colorado, Texas, Kansas, Wyoming, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.)

Brianna Fryer, a graduating senior, finished her competitive career with a fourth place all around, in the oldest age division, scoring 36.625.  Fryer finished in the top 10 on all events.  She brought home the silver medal for a 9.225 on her yerchenko half timer vault, and her half on full twist vault.  She nailed all four of her handstands from free hip circles and giants on bars, scoring a 9.00 for ninth place on bars.  On balance beam, she took fourth place with a 9.05; despite a fall after landing her side aerial. Her 9.30 on floor was good enough for the ninth place medal there.

Sara Gardner finished 13th in the second oldest age division with a 35.025.  Sara’s highest finish was fourth on balance beam with 9.175.  She finished seventh with her half on full twist off vault with a 8.95, 14th on bars with 8.375, and 15th on floor with 9.00.

Megan Brown finished 16th in the third and youngest high school age division with 35.10.  Megan’s flawless giant swings led her to a 9.075 ninth place finish on bars.  She was 13th on beam with an 8.475, 16th on floor with a 9.30, and 20th on vault with an 8.25.

It was a great end to an incredible season for the LASG Diamond team.
