Northern New Mexico Students Compete In State Rodeo Finals In Lovington

State Junior and High School Rodeo finals were held May 26-30 in Lovington, NM. Youth from across the state showed up to compete for the year-end honor of being a rodeo champion.   More than $70,000 in prizes were earned, along with the designation of each event’s top four contestants moving on to represent New Mexico at the national finals.

Los Alamos High School, 12th grade, daughter of Gilbert & Berna Martinez: 7th pole bending,13th barrels, breakaway roping contestant

Escalante Mid/High School, 11th grade, daughter of Shane and Sage Faulker: 6th barrels

Monte Faulkner
Escalante Mid/High School, 10th grade, son of Shane and Sage Faulkner: State Champion saddle bronc rider, national qualifier
