The Cerro Pelado Fire acreage rose by only 3 acres overnight Sunday. The containment rose substantially to 62 percent. Acreage of the fire is now at 45,605.

“Today will be dry and warm with gusty winds, which is similar to the weather we’ve been having. There has been no measurable rain in this area for 46 days,” said Great Basin #1 Incident Command Team PIO Mary Cernicek Monday morning.

Today’s plans include getting aerial support in place, however they are not going to get aircraft up until the clouds lift, she said. They will be working around communication towers near Peralta Ridge.

Later this week, Great Basin #1 team members will be transitioning out due to the arrival of a new incident command team, Cernicek said.
