Los Alamos
I would like to thank the fine fellows from the Los Alamos County Parks Department who cleaned up the 4 cubic yards of dry pine needles left at the base of the Quemazon Trail yesterday.
It appears as though local residents cleared their yard and left this mess for someone else. With the thick smoke and substantial winds today, the crew from the County performed admirably in removing that which did not belong on the trailhead. They were polite, efficient, and helpful. Thank you gentlemen for stepping up and preventing a potential fire storm, I personally have seen too many.
Please remember that our county employees are here to do vital jobs. A thank you for their help is the least we can do, especially when they drop everything to resolve hazards. Please remember that bagged yard waste can be placed on the curb for pickup. Be sure that large piles are clear of overhead powerlines and other hazards. Pickup can be arranged by calling 505-662-8163. The County staff and managers are there to help, and they are very nice to work with.
