PEEC NEWS RELEASE
Join the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) on Wednesday, May 4 at 6 p.m. to celebrate Star Wars Day by watching Star Wars: A New Hope in the nature center planetarium, sponsored by Los Alamos Network – LANET. In this film, Luke Skywalker joins forces with a Jedi Knight, a cocky pilot, a Wookie, and two droids to save the galaxy from the Empire’s world-destroying battle station, while also attempting to rescue Princess Leia from the mysterious Darth Vader.
Before catching the film in the planetarium, be sure to come in costume or wear your favorite Star Wars t-shirt to celebrate May the Fourth at the Mesa Public Library at 1:30 p.m. Participate in activities such as making a simple lightsaber and battling with it, Death Star cornhole, and more! For more information about this event, visit laconm.libcal.com/event/9150510 or call 505-662-8250.
As a companion to our May the 4th film showing, astronomer Rick Wallace will look at some of the science behind the Star Wars films on Friday, May 6. Make sure to catch The Science of Star Wars astronomy talk in the planetarium at 7 p.m.
