LANL And LAFD Wildland Fire Officials To Speak On 2022 Season During Virtual PEEC Event Thursday

The southwest is a dry place where wildfire is a natural occurrence. Conditions like drought and fuel type can make these fires worse. Richard Nieto, Los Alamos National Laboratory Wildland Fire Management Officer, and Kelly Sterna, Los Alamos Fire Department Wildland Division Chief, will discuss the predicted seasonal wildland fire conditions for 2022. This virtual talk at 6 p.m., Thursday, Apr. 21 will provide knowledge on deciding fire danger ratings and other practices used to predict and mitigate seasonal conditions of wildland fire in Northern New Mexico.
