Los Alamos County 4-H Contests were held April 7 and 9 in White Rock. This year there were 22 participates grades K-12, who competed in variety of different contests covering areas such as Wildlife and Plant Identification, Cooking and Nutrition, and Public Speaking. Many of the contests included both written and oral components, and required the members to study and prepare for. Favorite Foods is one of the most popular contests.

The attached pictures are from Favorite Foods, one of our most popular contests. The members had to select and make a dish, and create a table setting theme to display their dish.

County contests are the first step for members to move on to the District and State contests, 5 of our Senior level members qualified to participate at the New Mexico State Convention at NMSU this July and 9 of our Junior and Novice members qualified to participate at the Northern New Mexico District Contest in Farmington this June. We are very proud of everyone who came out to compete and wish those moving on the best of luck.
