Los Alamos High School junior varsity softball continued their 9-game winning streak after hosting Moriarity and Pojoaque this week.
On Tuesday, April 5, Los Alamos 10 run ruled Moriarity in the 4th inning 12-2
- 5 walks and 3 hits put 7 runs on the board for LA in the first inning, lead by doubles by Sierra Gonzales and Sophia Martinez and a triple by Sydney Kitts
- K’Lee Warwick hit an in the park HR
- Kitts and Gonzales each went 2 for 3 and Gonzales lead with 4 RBI’s
- Malaya Haynes earned the win with 5 strikeouts, 3 hits and 1 run
- Relief pitcher, Adia Fortin, threw 2 innings, with 3 k’s, 2 hits and 1 run
- LA’s defense was strong, especially the glove of 3rd baseman Danalysa Rodriguez, who had 4 putouts
On Friday, April 8, Los Alamos and Pojoaque both came into this district double header on a 7 game winning streak
Game 1 – LA 15 run ruled Pojoaque in the 4th inning 18-3
- Haynes earned the win with 6 strikeouts, 6 hits and 3 runs
- LA bats were on fire with 5 doubles, 3 triples and 1 HR (Rodriguez)
- Haynes went 3 for 4 at the plate to lead JV in hits, a strong second was Gwyneth Johnson and Gonzales who went 2 for 3
Game 2 – LA shutout Pojoaque in the 3rd inning 16-0
- Haynes earned the win with only 1 strikeout
- Toppers defense had Haynes’ back as they caught 6 balls in the air to shut down Pojoaque’s bats
