The Los Alamos County Planning & Zoning Commission will hear a request Wednesday evening from Transcor Development Corporation to rezone two parcels at 2100 and 2200 Canyon Road as Mixed Use. The 4.75 acre property is currently zoned as Multiple-Family Residential –Very High Density.

One of the parcels in question has a building that was the meeting facility for the Kit Carson Council of the Boy Scouts of America and was sold to the Ina Ross family who used it as a single-family residence. In October 2011, the property was rezoned from residential high density to residential very high density in order to gain the height allowance necessary for an anticipated development of the property.

In 2012, Los Alamos Visiting Nursing Services purchased the property and obtained site plan approval for a home care and hospice service campus. In 2019, Transcor Development Corporation acquired the property with Dekker Perich Sabatini as the agent.

The Commission will also consider a request by Los Alamos County Community Development Department  to amend the County’s Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Map, changing a designation from High-Density Residential to Mixed Use.

Tuesday’s agenda does not include a site plan for approval. That would come before the Commission sometime in the future.
