The celebrated Macedonian pianist, Simon Trpĉeski, will close the Los Alamos Concert Association’s 75th Anniversary season on Sunday, April 10th at 4:00pm.

Mr. Trpĉeski was recognized early in his career with young artist awards from the BBC and London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.  He is now a frequent soloist with major European and American orchestras including the philharmonic orchestras of New York and Los Angeles, Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic.

An acclaimed recitalist, Mr. Trpĉeski has performed in major halls throughout Europe and America as well as in Brazil and Japan.  A prolific recording artist, his most recent releases on Linn Records in 2020 garnered rave reviews from BBC Music Magazine and Gramophone

Mr. Trpĉeski’s Los Alamos performance will include two very different works by Prokofiev.  Tales of an Old Grandmother is a set of four nostalgic pieces composed during his exile in the US after the outbreak of the Russian Revolution.

His Sonata No. 7 was premiered in 1943 by Sviatoslav Richter who said, “With this work, we are brutally plunged into the anxiously threatening atmosphere of a world that has lost its balance.”

Brahms’ Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann, Beethoven’s 12 Variations on the Russian Dance from “Das Waldmädchen”, and the Holberg Suite by Edvard Grieg complete the program.

Masks will not be required at this concert following New Mexico Department of Health guidelines which are subject to change.  However, masks will be appreciated by many in the audience and social distancing in the large hall is requested. Go to www.losalamosconcert.org for updates.
