GEORGE CHANDLER CAMPAIGN NEWS RELEASE
George Chandler has filed to run for the office of County Assessor of Los Alamos, capping 16 years in elected offices. During a span of more than forty years of involvement in Los Alamos and New Mexico public affairs George has advocated for good government, the poor and the homeless, victims of domestic abuse, access to justice, and criminal justice reform.
George served four years previously as the County Assessor. He holds a law degree from UNM School of Law and is retired from Los Alamos National laboratory, where he was a physicist in magnetic fusion and weapons programs. His activism at the county level, both as officeholder and private citizen, addressed affordable housing, business and economic development, adherence to the charter and the law, and public utilities. He has been a tireless advocate for protection of neighborhoods from commercial and governmental encroachment and for public access to policy-making processes.
George has the experience and skills to run the Office of County Assessor effectively and with empathy, and respectfully asks for your vote on November 8.
