Women’s Lenten Retreat Mar. 26 Features Popular Author, Speaker Sarah Christmyer

Popular Catholic author and speaker Sarah Christmyer will be the guest speaker at an upcoming Lenten retreat for women hosted by Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos. The Saturday, March 26 retreat will begin with 7:30 a.m. Mass in church followed by the program at 9 a.m. in Karen McLaughlin (Parish) Hall concluding at 3:15 p.m.

The theme of the retreat is based upon Chrismyer’s latest book, “Becoming Women of the Word: How to Answer God’s Call with Purpose and Joy.” Through a series of talks throughout the day, Christmyer will help retreat participants explore questions such as “Who are the models of faith in your life?” and “Who helps you hear God’s call?” In “Becoming Women of the Word,” Christmyer takes a spiritual walk through the Old Testament seeking answers to these questions. The women called by God in biblical times were ordinary women who struggled with emptiness, oppression, infertility and loss—and yet they found strength and hope in God. This special retreat will explore the lives of some of these women and their challenges, along with personal insights shared by Christmyer from her own spiritual journey. The retreat also offers opportunities for prayer, confession and small group discussions. All women are welcome to attend this special day-long event in Los Alamos within a holy setting designed to bring participants closer to Christ this Lenten season.

Sarah Christmyer is co-developer of the Great Adventure Bible Study Program and popular author of several books, including “Create in Me a Clean Heart: Ten Minutes a Day in the Penitential Psalms” as a personal Lenten journal. She blogs at www.comeintotheword.com and has been featured on a variety of Catholic television and radio shows.
