Rotary Club Presents Check For $250 To Family Strengths Network

Rotary Club President Oliver Morris, center, presents a check on February 22 to Administrative Assistant Monica Romo, left, and Executive Director Carie Fanning of Family Strengths Network (FSN).  The donation was made as part of Rotary’s dedication to literacy, an international area of focus. Romo explained the money will be used to support the FSN Beth Ladino Family Resource Library and will “replace outdated books, address parents’ requests, and fill gaps” in the many topics already represented on the library’s shelves, which feature over 1200 books and DVDs.  These include titles on everything from parenting to craft projects, outdoor play to dealing with divorce, cookbooks to new siblings in the family.  FSN also has a Reading Adventure program with books in backpacks for early readers to check out with corresponding activities. Founded in 1989, FSN currently serves over 1000 families in Los Alamos and northern New Mexico.  The private, non-profit organization provides classes, support groups, activities, a library (and one with toys) for all family members–children, teens, parents, and grandparents—to “improve the quality of family life for generations.” For more information about Family Strengths Network, please go to https://www.lafsn.org/.  Photo by Linda Hull
