This year, there will be a Virtual Senior Day, at the Roundhouse. While we hope to have more information on that soon. The local senior centers hope you will help them out, as soon as possible. “Be Our Voice,” is the theme for senior services in the 2022 session.

The pandemic continues to be a drain on senior center resources. Four-year funding proposals were recently submitted, with hopes to offer new services, for the future.

One planned activity, is called Chore Services. It would allow members to call their local senior center, for chores that need to be done in the home. Currently, the low numbers of staff, plus the rising costs of food and supplies have risen by 20% for centers across New Mexico, impacting every program.

Please contact your members of the House of Representatives and Senators, and tell them to BE the voice of seniors, by allocating additional funds.

The date of the Virtual Senior Day has not been confirmed but is expected to be Feb. 8.
