County: Public Hearing On Proposed Vacant Commercial Building Ordinance Slated For Feb. 1: Video Of Jan. 24 Town Hall Available For Viewing

COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

Los Alamos County Councilors will consider the adoption of proposed Ordinance 02-323 at a public hearing held during the Tuesday, Feb. 1, virtual 6 p.m. Council meeting. Drafted to support the Council’s goal to promote economic vitality, the Ordinance focuses on addressing vacant commercial buildings and lessening their impact on commercial districts in Los Alamos and White Rock. If adopted, the Ordinance will go into effect on Mar. 2, 2022. The Council agenda, supporting documents, and information on how to join the meeting through Zoom will be available on the County’s Legistar website by 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 28.

In advance of the upcoming public hearing, Los Alamos Councilors Denise Derkacs, David Izraelevitz, and Sean Williams held a town hall to answer questions and listen to citizen concerns.  Approximately 50 members of the public attended the Monday, Jan. 24, town hall. A video of the meeting is available for viewing on the County town hall news release webpage

Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, the meeting recording did not begin until the Councilors’ presentation concluded, and Councilors began to engage with citizens. The PowerPoint presentation, without audio, was edited into the video upfront to provide context to citizen questions.
