On January 22, 2022, at 9:14 a.m. Martha Leeann McNiel lost her battle with Covid-19 but gained her wings to fly with the angels! Martha was born on July 13, 1978, to Evelyn Curtis and Kenneth McNiel in Topeka, Kansas. Martha attended high school in Washington and completed 3 and a half years at Grand Canyon University. Although her life on earth was short Martha made good use of her time and touched many hearts and lives. From the little hearts she touched while teaching children’s church, working in the nursery, and helping with kids camps and vacation bible schools. To the bigger hearts with her smile, kindness, amazing chocolate chip cookies, and mostly her selfless love for people. Martha spent many years behind a camera at the local Easter egg hunt, Dad’s fest, and 4th of July celebrations. Her life was an example of the kindness our world needs, and most people referred to her “as a one in a million kind of person”.
Martha loved life and the people in it. Martha raised her son Charles as a single parent, and he was the light of her world from the time he was born. Besides her son, Martha is survived by her mother Evelyn Curtis, her 2 brothers, Michael and Juanita McNiel, and Eugene and Heather McNiel, 11 nieces and nephews Natasha & Kyle Pearce, Chantel Perkins, Ryan McNiel, Tianna McNiel-White, Levi Guarello, Isabelle McNiel, Matthew McNiel, Quinn Boyer, Kayla McNiel, and Ayden McNiel. She was blessed with 4 great nieces and nephew Ella, Kai, and Harper Pearce, and Anika McNiel-White. Beside the immediate family, Martha had many other “Family Members” as she was happy to be called sister, auntie, or mom by any of the people in her life! She was a great friend to many, a greater sibling, and the greatest mom and auntie!!! I will miss her daily text to see how life was going or just a simple I love you!
We would like to invite all to celebrate her life with us at New Beginnings Fellowship in Los Alamos on Feb. 9 at 12 p.m., reception and light lunch to follow. I would also like to ask anyone who may have pictures to share to email them to juanitamcniel@gmail.com
