The Community Development Department officials shared today that two of the seven buildings of the long-anticipated Canyon Walk Apartments will be ready by the end of January 2022. Canyon Walk Apartments is the 70-unit Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) multi-family development on DP Road. The apartments were scheduled for full opening by Jan. 31, 2021.
According to the development team Bethel Development Inc., due to Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions affecting contractors and supplies plus ongoing roadway and infrastructure improvements, the apartments are now anticipated for completion and Certificates of Occupancy for buildings 6 and 7 (20 units) by the end of January 2022. The remaining fifty (50) units in buildings 1-5 are expected to be complete and ready for move-in between February and April 2022. Bethel officials explain that building 1 will be completed last with the highly demanded ten (10) 1-bedroom apartments.
The County is coordinating with the property management leasing company Kay-Kay Realty Corp., so that move-in dates be staggered to the extent practical to keep DP Road from excessive traffic and congestion as roadway, sidewalk, curb, gutter and all other infrastructure improvements are finalized.
The leasing office is open now and receiving inquiries with the application period still open. The apartments within buildings 6 and 7 contain two and three-bedrooms and are anticipated to be available for showings only by early next week. Kay-Kay Realty staff advises that no lease agreements shall be finalized until the construction is complete and apartments are move-in ready.
