All LAPS Schools Sites Go To Temporary Remote Learning Next Week

LAPS NEWS RELEASE

After careful consideration and a review of positive tests, quarantine and isolation numbers, attendance  data, and available staff, the decision has been made to pause in person instruction at all Los Alamos Public Schools until January 24. Through our contact tracing, we have seen indications of spread of  COVID in our schools.

Students will temporarily have remote learning from Tuesday, January 18 until January 24.  Schools are not in session on Monday, January 17 in recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  Students will return to campus for in person instruction on January 24.

All  in  person  classes,  meetings,  and  activities  must  be  held  remotely,  be  rescheduled,  or  be  canceled during this window.  This also applies to after school clubs and YMCA.

Students at Mountain Elementary will also return on January 24 with the rest of the district.  Although we will review the data, we expect all LAPS students to return to their school sites on  Monday, January 24.

Principals and teachers will communicate with parents and students today about how to access  remote instruction at each school. Teachers will send materials home with students today.

We appreciate your patience and commitment to the safety of our schools. ##
