The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) is reporting a record high number of new COVID-19 cases in today’s case count press release.  The number of new cases reported to the state was impacted by a temporary disruption in the electronic lab (ELR) reporting feed, which has now been resolved. Case counts were also impacted by the receipt of historical results from one laboratory. 

On background: The disruption in the ELR feed resulted in an artificially low number of new COVID-19 cases reported in Tuesday’s daily case count press release.  Approximately, 1,000 new COVID-19 cases were received after resolution of the ELR reporting disruption and are included in today’s COVID-19 epidemiology report.  An additional 2,540 new cases were reported by one laboratory and these include cases that were recently tested over the past 12 days.  These new cases just reported to the state are also included in today’s epidemiology report. The NMDOH will continue to inform the public of any reporting disruptions that may impact COVID-19 case counts.

Despite these reporting anomalies, the COVID-19 case count in New Mexico is on the rise.  Please stay safe by avoiding large groups or crowds, wear a well-fitting mask when indoors in public, and get your COVID-19 vaccination and booster shot when you are eligible, as soon as possible.
