James Wernicke set off Saturday on a seven-day, 40 mile, 19,341-feet trek to the top of Africa’s hat, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Wernicke told the Los Alamos Reporter Saturday morning that there are more than 100,000 Americans waiting for a kidney transplant and 1 in 7 adults have chronic kidney disease. ‘The American Kidney Fund helps find and support donors so these people can live life without being hooked to a dialysis machine. The fund is one of the highest ranking charities for efficacy and efficiency,’ he said. “Would your readers consider donating $19.34, $193,41, or even better, a kidney. I can even show them how to do it when I get back’. Watch the Los Alamos Reporter for more about Wernicke’s great adventure. To donate, go to https://www.kidneyfund.org. Photo by James Wernicke
