Isabella McTeigue Takes First Place In 2021 Congressional App-Challenge

Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernández has announced that Isabella McTeigue of Los Alamos is the winner of the 2021 Congressional App-Challenge Winner for New Mexico’s 3rd congressional district. The App-Challenge is a district-wide competition for middle and high school students that encourages young people to learn to code and pursue careers in computer science. This year, 16 students across the district submitted applications for the virtual competition.

“New Mexico is no stranger to exceptional talent in our youth. This app challenge inspired students across New Mexico to practice coding and cultivate their science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills,” said Leger Fernández.  “These are the kind of opportunities we need to foster so that young people can think about their futures.”

“My deepest congratulations to our top award winners. Our first-place winner, Isabella McTeigue, created an app that evaluates the impact of medical combinations. This innovative app makes New Mexico’s 3rd district proud and reflects the growing interest of young people in emerging technologies. I’m thankful to all of our participants for the work they put into this project and to the teachers who inspire and encourage their students to participate.” concluded Leger Fernández.
