County Reminds Motorists To Drive Safely

COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

Los Alamos County is starting 2022 off with some much-needed precipitation.  Citizens awoke this morning to approximately three inches of snow throughout the townsite and White Rock communities.

While crews with the Traffic and Streets Division worked through the night to ensure that the main roads are plowed, slick conditions linger due to freezing temperatures. Snow fall is predicted to taper off throughout the day, but temperatures are forecasted to remain below 32 degrees until Monday.

Traffic Engineer Juan Rael indicated that County crews are still working to plow snow from streets and sidewalks in accordance with the Snow and Ice Control Plan. He urges motorists to venture out only if necessary.  “If you have to get out, check the road conditions at some of the major intersections using the County’s live-streaming program ‘MyDrive’ and of course exercise caution and drive at reduced speeds.”

MyDrive can be accessed at https://lacnm.com/MyDrive.  Rael instructs users to then click on the intersection image to activate the live feed on YouTube.
