LWV And AAUW To Host 2022 Legislative Preview Jan. 6 Via Zoom

LWV NEWS RELEASE

The community is invited to the 2022 Legislative Preview to be held via Zoom on Thursday, January 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Los Alamos and the American Association of University Women.

Our legislators—Representative Christine Chandler, Senator Leo Jaramillo, and Senator Roberto Gonzales—have agreed to join and share their views on the upcoming session.  Also, Secretary of Public Education Kurt Steinhaus will discuss what has been done so far to address the court’s findings in Yazzie v. Martinez and what is needed in the way of funding to do more.

Speakers will answer questions from the audience as time permits.

The 2022 New Mexico Legislative Session will begin in Santa Fe on January 18 and continue for 30 days, ending on February 17.  Since it is a short session, legislation will be limited to budget matters, issues receiving attention from the governor, bills that were previously vetoed, memorials, and resolutions.

The Zoom will be limited to 100 participants.  Please click on the link below to register.
