Los Alamos Young Guns Compete In New Mexico High School Clay Target Competition Zone 1 In Albuquerque

Ten Los Alamos Young Guns athletes traveled to the Albuquerque Trap Club Dec. 11-12 for the Zone 1 New Mexico High School Clay Target Association Competition including three first time competitors.

For Senior Varsity Females, in the singles event Ana Schmitz took place, Rhyen Vigil was second and Alyssa Vigil was fourth. In the handicap event, Alyssa Vigil was first, Rhyen Vigil took third, and Ana Schmitz took fourth. In doubles, Alyssa Vigil took first place. Ana Schmitz took second and Rhyen Vigil took fourth place.  The high overall for the second month in a row went to Alyssa Vigil.

For Senior Varsity Males, in the doubles event Gavin Robles took first place, Morgan Catlin took third, Matthew Nowell took 11th place, Donovan Allen took 13th place. In singles, Morgan Catlin took 9th place, Gavin Robles took 14th place, Matthew Nowell was 16th and Donovan Allen was 18th. In handicap, Morgan Catlin took eighth, Matthew Nowell took 10th, Donovan Allen was 11th and Gavin Robles was 14th.

The Young Guns’ three first-time competitors Alexandra Booton, Nicholas Booton and Kadin Hansel placed well in the intermediate events:

Alexandra Booton placed fourth in singles, fourth in handicap and fourth in doubles.

Kadin Hansel placed fifth in singles and fifth in handicap. Kadin medalled in doubles where he took third place.

Nicholas Booton placed sixth in singles and sixth in handicap.

Scores have not yet been released for the skeet and wiz-bang events.
