Rotarians Host Winter Holiday Party, Welcome New Member Robert Wells

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos hosted its annual Winter Holiday Party Tuesday at Cottonwood on the Greens enjoying a generous banquet provided by restaurateurs Pawel and Dorota Listwan and staff.  Robert Wells was inducted as a new member of the Club, and two barbershop quartets, Infectious Harmony and Three Nice Guys, performed under the direction of Maurice Sheppard.” Pictured are. from left, Maurice Sheppard, Jeremy Conlin, Bear Schacht, Dan Sheppard, and Dick Heaton.  The five singers overlap into the two musical groups.  Selections included popular barbershop songs and songs of the holiday season with a finale of We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Photo by Linda Hull”

Robert Wells, center, was inducted to membership of the Rotary Club of Los Alamos during its holiday party Tuesday evening.  His Club sponsor, Rob Metcalf (left) and Rotary Assistant Governor for District 5520 Tom Simon (right), a member of the Rotary Club of Santa Fe, welcomed him to Rotary, the oldest humanitarian service organization in the world.  Wells is a graduate of West Point and served in the U.S. Air Force for twenty years.  He has worked at Lawrence Livermore, Sandia, and Los Alamos National Laboratories in the areas of weapons and nuclear defense.  He retired from  the USAF in 1982 and headed the Albuquerque offices of Los Alamos Technical Associates.  At LANL, he was a project manager, a deputy group leader and program director for construction development.  Wells has served on many Los Alamos County Boards, including Planning and Zoning, Transportation, Art in Public Places, Trails and Pathways of Parks and Recreation, Fuller Lodge Arts Center, and Friends of the County Libraries.  He and his wife Ann have four children and seven grandchildren.  Photo by Linda Hull
