LAPS FOUNDATION NEWS RELEASE
Every year LAPS Foundation awards scholarships to graduating seniors. This year, as a result of community feedback, we have added an additional category of scholarship for students who are planning a technical path career after high school. Recognizing not every student at LAPS plans on going to college, we want to help students with all opportunities after high school. Our two $1000 career technical scholarships do not have a community service requirement or a GPA requirement. They will be based on the students’ career plans and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer or mentor.
LAPS Foundation is also administering a new memorial scholarship this year, the Kristin Kosiewicz Annual Memorial Scholarship. This $1000 scholarship will be awarded annually in memory of Kristin Kosiewicz, a 1993 graduate of Los Alamos High School, who passed away on September 26, 2021. The scholarship will be awarded to one graduating LAHS senior in honor of Kristin’s amazing life and to draw attention to the dangers of accidental drug overdose which tragically took Kristin’s life. LAPS Foundation scholarships will have an online application option this year. Scholarship applications are due on Friday, February 4, 2022. Seniors who wish to apply can go to https://lapsfoundation.com/apply-for-a-scholarship/ . If you have questions or need assistance, contact LAPS Foundation at 505-500-6501.
