Bell-ringing at Smith’s Marketplace in Los Alamos, Smith’s in White Rock and at the Los Alamos Co-Operative Market is in full swing. All funds raised locally go to the Salvation Armey and are distributed to Self Help, Inc., a Los Alamos-based nonprofit which provides emergency assistance to people in need.

All season long, bell-ringing volunteers are a familiar sight in our community and there are a number of slots open at all three locations between now and Christmas for two-hour bell-ringer spots. It’s easy to sign up. Just go to selfhelpla.org/bells, or contact the Los Alamos Volunteer Association at (505) 662-8923. You can also contact Self Help directly at (505) 662-4666 or director@selfhelpla.org. We’d love to have you! You don’t have to sing or dance – only if you wish. You can bring along a friend to keep you company and the two hours will fly by.

Editor’s note: The Los Alamos Reporter and the infamous Rita Sanchez will be bell-ringing at the Smith’s Marketplace from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11.
