Los Alamos Teen Center

Once again the Los Alamos Teen Center needs puppies, kittens, dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, and other cuddly animals for our traditional end of semester de-stress activities for high school students!

We have a whole range of activities going on from Dec. 13-17 including two afternoons with animals to cuddle with. Our plan is to host animals on Tuesday, Dec. 14 and Thursday, Dec. 16. Generally we have two “shifts” each day: 2:45 p.m to 3:45p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00pm, with two different animals (or small groups with the same owner) per shift.

If you are able to help, please contact us using the information below to schedule a time. We work hard to make sure that we only schedule compatible combinations of animals in a given time slot. Owners will need to stay to supervise their animals and there will be volunteer teen hosts to help out and clean up any messes that might occur.

To volunteer yourself and your pet please call the Teen Center at (505) 695-7415 – weekdays between 12:00pm and 6:00pm – and ask for George or Eli or e-mail latc@laymca.org.

Thanks in advance for your help! The Los Alamos community has stepped up and helped out with this for a number of years and the teens really appreciate it. I can promise that few things are more satisfying than watching the stress disappear from a teen as they cuddle with your pet! If you have contact info for folks at local shelters who might be able to help let us know. We had connections in past years but lost them during COVID.
