Commissioner of Public Lands Stephanie Garcia Richard appears to have purchased three parcels of land on Entrada Drive in Los Alamos. According to the County Assessor’s office, the land was purchased in October. The Assessor’s Office parcel map still reflects that the property belongs to Main Gate, LLC., and an employee there noted that it can take up to a year for the map to be updated. Meanwhile, a sign posted at the entrance to Entrada indicates that the property is now for sale. The Los Alamos Reporter reached out Wednesday to Deputy Land Commissioner Tarin Nix for information on why the office is purchasing land in Los Alamos County, if there are future plans to buy other land in the County and information on the price of the land. The land is advertised as state trust land which is defined as lands held in trust for New Mexico’s public schools and other beneficiaries. Main Gate, LLC and Los Alamos County reached a settlement agreement last year in the amount of $240,000 in a law suit related to the Entrada property that was filed by Main Gate in 2015.
