Isn’t it frustrating that there is no place in Los Alamos to buy really unique and fun gifts for your family, friends and co-workers? Wouldn’t it be great if there was a Great GIFT shop in downtown Los Alamos?
Gaia @ Boomerang to the rescue! Gaia is a new gift shop that specializes in the Snarky, the Science-y, and the Sacred. Boomerang owner, Anna Dillane scours the earth for items that will appeal to Los Alamos residents, tourists and people with a good sense of humor!!
When asked about this new business venture, Dillane said. “First I’d like to speak to the changes to Boomerang. Boomerang has become a retail fixture in Los Alamos and we want to assure our loyal customers that nothing is changing in how we operate! To create space for Gaia, we rearranged and consolidated -you will still find every item that you could find before Gaia. They are just rearranged!
We still offer consignment, trade and happily accept donations. We have been serving New Mexico for 20 years and we’re celebrating our 7th anniversary on Small Business Saturday!”
Throughout that long career, Boomerang has brought smiles to many faces and offered a place to feel seen and included. Now Dillane hopes to extend that service to retail gifts. When asked what prompted this exciting new shop, Dillane said, “Heather and I were on an employee retreat in Ruidoso visiting the myriad shops they have there. We kept exclaiming to each other that we wished there were stores like this in Los Alamos. At one point the idea was born, ‘Why don’t we open one ourselves?’
The new shop will occupy the area to the right of the door as you enter. Gaia at Boomerang will focus on the Snarky, the Science-y, and the Sacred. It will include items such as desk toys, sarcastic tea towels, funny magnets, Los Alamos themed mugs, t-shirts, science toys for kids, jewelry for the scientist in your life, exciting tie-dye and Festival clothing, bumper stickers, water bottle stickers, lots of Pride merchandise, wind chimes, sun catchers, and so much more!! Merchandise will be ever changing, but the goal will always be to bring a smile, a giggle or to brighten someone’s day! A glimpse in the window shows the thought and care that is going into the creation of this new space. Chimes and colorful sun catchers hang in the window, beautiful ethnic tapestries adorn the fuchsia colored walls, a whole shelf of toys calls to the smaller shoppers and there is even a garden arch covered with 3D butterfly magnets that glow in the dark!
Gaia @ Boomerang will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting on Nov. 27. They invite everyone to come check out the newest gift shop in town!
