FIRST BORN NEWS RELEASE

The First Born Program of Los Alamos would like to thank the community for choosing our scarecrows as the Fan Favorites as well as the Los Alamos Arts Council for sponsoring the event.

A couple of weeks before Halloween, The First Born Program of Los Alamos hosted a Scarecrow Party for member families. Family Strengths Network generously shared their space for the event. During the party, parents and their babies participated in fall themed crafts and activities and helped build the scarecrows, who were travelers on “A Journey through the Milky Way.”

One parent exclaimed, “I love how this creative display came together. It normalizes and celebrates breastfeeding.”

The First Born Program of Los Alamos is a free and voluntary home visiting program for all first time families in Los Alamos. The program is relationshipcentered and curriculumbased. Families who participate receive support, information about pregnancy, early childhood development, health, nutrition and safety and learn fun activities to help build brain development and learning. Through weekly home visits, families identify personal goals, recognize challenges and opportunities for growth and build a healthy, loving, playful relationship with their child.
