LAFSE NEWS RELEASE
Los Alamos Federation of School Employees (LAFSE) Union Co-President Christine Englebrecht and LAFSE Union Co-President & Committee on Political Education Chair Trey Pereyra released the following statements Monday evening:
“We are extremely proud to issue endorsements in our local Los Alamos Public Schools Board of Education races. Specifically, we are endorsing candidates Melanie Colgan, Erin Green, Ellen Spector, and Antonio Jaurigue for Districts 1, 2, 4, and 5, respectively. Each of these candidates stood out during the interview process and have shown their deep commitment to the LAPS community, hardworking public educators, and most importantly, the students we serve every day,” said Engelbrecht. “Throughout the candidate endorsement process, these candidates demonstrated they have the knowledge, experience, and plan of delivering and executing the best policies for our district.”
“Additionally, these endorsements represent the preferred candidates of a cross-section of the educators that LAFSE represents, and we are proud to say that this process was transparent, inclusive, and student-focused throughout our conversations with candidates. Each candidate showed a willingness to share what they know and be open to feedback and education by our committee, each of whom donated their time and expertise in this process,” said Pereyra.
The LAFSE Committee on Political Education is made up of both officers and rank-and-file members of LAFSE. All candidates for LAPS Board of Education were offered the opportunity to participate in endorsement interviews.
