LOS ALAMOS SPORTSMEN’S CLUB NEWS RELEASE

On a recent Saturday morning, members of the Los Alamos Sportsman’s Club Board of Directors met with members of the Los Alamos Fire Department for instruction in the “Stop the Bleed” training needed to provide emergency first aid for trauma victims suffering serious blood loss, including those who have suffered gunshot wounds. The training lasted for the morning and included an emergency gunshot wound care kit.  This sort of training, which hopefully none of our board members will ever need to use, could likely be lifesaving if there is ever a gunshot wound accident at the club. Even though the LAFD trucks are minutes away, time is of the essence.

Plans are in the works to provide this training to club rangemasters, trainers, and eventually club members who wish to obtain it.

This is one of the services that the LASC provides to members, who number some 1100 in Los Alamos and surrounding communities. If you wish to learn more about this sort of training, learn about firearms and shooting sports, or just wish to see how the other half lives, this coming Open Range Day on Sunday, the 26th of September is for you.

The festivities will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Food will be available. Tickets to attend will be sold onsite for $10 per person for those 14 or older; club members can attend free with their badge. Please exhibit Covid-awareness, given the fact that we are still working through this pandemic.
