PEEC NEWS RELEASE

Get outside with the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) this fall! Registration is now open for PEEC’s after-school fall clubs, Forest Explorers and PEEC Buds Garden Club. Learn more and register for these clubs at peecnature.org/events.

Forest Explorers is a three-hour drop-off program that provides the opportunity for kids to go on hikes from the Los Alamos Nature Center for self-directed play in the canyons, creeks and surrounding forest. Children will build forts, make observations and learn to identify plants and animals. This club will meet from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sept. 8, 15, 22 and 29 and October 6, 13, 20 and 27 for a total of eight meetings. Participants must be currently in grades 1, 2 or 3.

PEEC Buds Garden Club will give kids the chance to explore fall gardening through fun, hands-on outdoor activities in PEEC’s raised garden beds. Club members will celebrate the bounty that fall brings while maintaining and harvesting from the vegetable garden planted outside the nature center. This small-group club is for children ages 7 – 10 and will meet four times throughout the fall. The club will meet from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, Sept. 13 and 27, and Oct. 4 and 18.

For more information about these clubs, email adventure@peecnature.org or call the nature center at 505-662-0460.
