Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Receives Sponsorship Of $3,000 From N3B-Los Alamos

Los Alamos JJAB is excited to announce that N3B-Los Alamos is sponsoring the Los Alamos affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.  The $3,000 donation provides for 525 children to receive books, through the program, in August and September. This donation supports the love of reading and learning for the youngest children in our community.

“N3B is committed to protecting future generations through community support and by cleaning up Northern New Mexico so we have a healthy environment,” said Kim Lebak, N3B president and general manager.  As the prime contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Environmental Management Los Alamos Field Office, N3B addresses the environmental impacts from Manhattan Project- and Cold War-era activities at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is coordinated by Los Alamos JJAB and made possible through grants and individual donors. The program is for children, newborns up to the age of 5, who reside in Los Alamos County.  Each month registered children receive, in the mail, a free high quality, age-appropriate book.

The Los Alamos affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was initiated by JJAB in October 2017 and since that time 21,230 books have been mailed to 910 children within the County.   A parent shared, “It has made a HUGE impact as that is a way my husband and child have bonded. My son will grab a book and bring it over to us. He’s learning the word “again” as we read him stories he loves. He is learning independence by grabbing a book and looking over it himself. My heart is overwhelmed seeing my husband interact with our son and get excited as they read a story together.”
