County Council Town Hall For Landowners And Business Owners Slated For Tuesday

Los Alamos County Council is holding a town hall from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3 in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building,1000 Central Avenue, Los Alamos. The meeting is also available via Zoom.

Purpose

The intended purpose of this town hall is to provide an opportunity for landowners and small business owners to discuss challenges and opportunities for entrepreneurs and business owners doing business in Los Alamos County.  This is in the context of recent initiatives such as rezoning, vacancy fees, Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) and Metropolitan Redevelopment Area (MRA). Starting a small business and/or owning property in Los Alamos County can present significant challenges.  Hopefully we will be able to identify some actions or initiatives that can be taken to help our landowners and small businesses which in turn will be of benefit to the citizens of Los Alamos County.

“Ground Rules”

Each speaker will be given time for a presentation with a following Q&A.  This is intended to be a positive and constructive interaction.  Questions from the audience will be 1-2 minutes in length.  We ask that all interactions be considerate and respectful towards all involved. Notes will be taken and will be made available to all interested parties after the town hall.  A suggested presentation outline is as follows:

6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.        Los Alamos County Landowners – Presentation times to be determined 

7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.        Los Alamos County Small Business Owners – Each speaker will have 10 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A.
