KIWANIS CLUB NEWS

The Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos is pleased to announce the selection of Isabella Martinez Pruet as the recipient of the Kayla Mueller Scholarship by the Kiwanis International Southwest District.

Kayla Mueller, the daughter of a Past Club President with the Kiwanis Club of Prescott, AZ, had dedicated her life to taking care of those in need throughout the entire world. Kayla was kidnapped by ISIS while providing medical care to those on the border of Syria. In early 2016 Kayla’s parents were informed that their daughter had been killed by ISIS. Kiwanis and Kayla’s family did not want her or the impact she made on the world to be forgotten.

This scholarship is given in her memory to someone who has dedicated herself unselfishly to making the world a better place. Isabella has an established record of similar service to humanity throughout her high school years. The community of Los Alamos can be very proud of her selection for this honor.

Isabella will be attending the University of North Texas where she will major in biochemistry and also participate in the Peace Corps Prep program to prepare for future service in the Peace Corps.
