Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Detectives Arrest Three In Nambe Homicide Case

Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza announced Thursday that sheriff’s detectives have arrested three individuals in connection to the Isaiah Herrera homicide, which occurred February 24, 2021 in Nambe. Isaiah Herrera was found deceased on a country road.

The following suspects, all juveniles, have been charged in First Judicial District Court and taken into custody:

Abram Anthony William Martinez, 18 of Espanola: Charged with murder (open count), robbery (armed, two counts of tampering with evidence, conspiracy to commit robbery (armed) and conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence.

Jacob Ruben Vigil, 18 of Ohkay Owingeh: Charged with tampering with evidence, conspiracy to commit robbery (armed), and conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence.

Christian Kenneth Madrid Sherwood, 17 of Espanola: Charged with tampering with evidence and conspiracy to tamper with evidence.

On February 4, sheriff’s deputies responded to a call that was initially reported as a welfare check. The caller believed a body was laying on the ground by the roadway. When deputies arrived they located a deceased male along Vista Herrera and the intersection of Santa Fe County Road 119S. The decadent was later identified as Isaiah Herrera, 19 years of age. 

According to Sheriff Mendoza, “sheriff’s detectives have been persistent and dedicated following leads and details that resulted in the arrests of these three suspects. I want to extend my thanks and congratulations to sheriff’s investigators for their dedication and hard work, which will bring justice to Isaiah and his family”.
