African Library Project

While the pandemic created some difficulties collecting and packing books for the African Library Project over the past 15 months, some ambitious local K-Kids service club (sponsored by LA Kiwanis) members and friends recently sponsored lemonade stands to help support the shipping to Africa of the many children’s books that have been piling up at ALP volunteer Sharon Allen’s donation bin, 926 Tewa Loop.

Four libraries of 1200 books each, two for secondary schools and two for primary schools, were recently shipped to Botswana and Malawi. A preschool library will be sent to Lesotho in the next week. In June, these awesome kids raised $488.13, almost enough to ship one whole library of books! Africa’s children thank you for your efforts and initiative, K-Kids!!!
