Update: Council recessed from Friday’s meeting and is slated to continue in closed session at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Los Alamos County Councilors meeting in closed session at noon Friday were expected to select decide on which of the three finalists for the position of County Manager should be offered the position. The agenda for the meeting indicates that Councilors will interview the finalists, conduct a debrief with the interview panels and discuss the applicants.

Acting County Manager Steve Lynne is one of the three people being considered along with Erin Reinders, City Manager of Unalaska, Alaska, and Leandro Cordova who is currently the Finance Director of the New Mexico Association of Counties. All three attended a meet and greet event for the public at Fuller Lodge Thursday afternoon which was sparsely attended possibly because of its last minute relocation from Ashley Pond Pavilion due to inclement weather.

The County Manager position is vacant due to the retirement of former County Manager Harry Burgess at the end of May following 10 years in the job. Council is expected to announce the final selection and vote on a contract for the new manager at the July 13 regular Council meeting.
