County To Host Open House June 24 For Public To Meet Candidates For County Manager Position

COUNTY NEWS

The County Council is wrapping up their search for a new County Manager. The list of candidates will be narrowed down this week – all with top notch qualifications and many combined years of municipal and county government experience.

Those final candidates will be in Los Alamos on June 24 and June 25. On June 24, the candidates will have a tour of Los Alamos and White Rock. Later that day, members of the public are invited to an open house reception to meet the candidates from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with introductions at 5:30 p.m. at the concert stage at Ashley Pond Park. Residents are invited to visit with each candidate and then fill out a comment form with their feedback and top choice(s). Forms will be collected and given to the Council as part of their review of all candidates. On June 25, the candidates will have interviews with the Council, a community panel representing residents and businesses, and senior management staff.

Details about the final candidates will be released on Friday following the County Council Closed Session Thursday, June 17.

The County Manager position was advertised in May, after former County Manager Harry Burgess announced his retirement. The Council has been actively working to narrow the list of candidates over the last few weeks.  The final selection and announcement of the successful candidate is expected at the July 13 Council meeting.
